New Nalanda Dharma Centre Progress Update (1-10 July 2009)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are happy to share with you that the rebuilding work of the New Nalanda Dharma Centre has been safe and smooth so far.

On the ground floor, the water feature has taken form in the Shrine Hall. The kitchen and restroom walls have been erected. Renovation on the 2nd floor has kick-started with the construction of the wall and concrete slab covering the airwell. In addition, the roof has been demolished to prepare for the construction of the attic floor before the oncoming rainy season.

We are thankful to all of you who have responded to our appeal since last month. Nevertheless, the shortage for the building fund as at 10 July 2009 stands at RM1.23 million.

7 July 2009 marked the 2nd Anniversary of Nalanda Institute. In just 2 years, the Institute under the leadership of it’s Director Bro. Tan, and 3 facilitators have remarkably organized 32 courses, and given opportunities to 2230 participants to further understand and explore the Buddha’s teachings. This number excludes many others who have gained from our off-campus courses held in Sabah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah/Perlis.

Buddhist education is vital in a person’s life-long development, both in secular and spiritual aspects. We sincerely hope to extend our services to promote Buddhist education far and wide. We seek your kind support and positive actions to continue supporting us in this noble cause. Thank you and Sukhihotu!

With metta,
The Management Committee
Nalanda Buddhist Society
