Have you read a Dhamma book today?

Book Title : A Concise History of Buddhism
Author : Andrew Skilton
Topic : History & Geography

The book contains narration that describes the diverse manifestations of Buddhism – in its homeland of India, and in its spread across Asia, from Mongolia to Sri Lanka, from Japan to the Middle East.

How and when did the many schools and sub-sects of Buddhism emerge? How do the ardent devotion of the Pure Land schools, the magical ritual of the Tantra, or the paradoxical negations of the Perfection of Wisdom literature, relate to the direct, down to earth, teachings of Gautama the ‘historical’ Buddha? Did Buddhism modify the cultures to which it was introduced, or did they modify Buddhism?

If these questions still intrigue you, do find out the answers from the book.
