Profile of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Puay Liu
Sis. Puay Liu is the Deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, Selangor, and a lecturer with the School of Social, Development and Environmental Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UKM.
She obtained her Ph.D from the Department of Sociology, University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 2000. Specialising in the field of ethnic studies, she looks into ethnic-related issues from the sociological and anthropological perspective. She is the author of the book - Packaging Myths for Tourism: The Rungus of Kudat (2008), UKM Publisher.
She was the Principal of Kajang Sunday Dhamma School (BMSM Kajang Branch). During her tenure, the inaugural “Night of the Asoka Awards 2009”, an Inter-Dharma School Competition which aims to promote the use of drama as a tool in Dhamma propagation was successfully held.
