15 July 2011, Friday - Gathering for Asalha Puja at Nalanda

Dear friends,

15 July, Friday, is Asalha Day, which marks three pivotal events in the Life of the Buddha - his conception, great renunciation from household life, and his first preaching of the Dhamma. The Buddha did all these and more, out of compassion for the world.

The Buddha delivered his first teaching on Asalha Full-moon Day in 588BC; thus this year marks the auspicious 2,600th Anniversary of Buddhism. Nalanda is observing this important occasion with a night of reflection and gratitude. Nalanda's founder Bro H S Tan will lead the puja and recitation of Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (the Buddha's first sermon) at 7.30pm, followed by a Dhamma talk by veteran speaker Bro Chan Khoon San.

We welcome all of you to join us in an evening of joyful recollection of the Buddha-Dhamma this Friday, and pray so that Peace may reign in the heart of every being. See you on Friday.

"Heart at Peace. World in Bliss."
