Buddhist Community Alliance Launching Ceremony

Dear Friends in the Dhamma,

For the first time in the history of Malaysian Theravadin Buddhists, a formal alliance is formed as an initiative to create a unified and stronger presence for our community in the country. We are proud to announce that Nalanda Buddhist Society is now part of this alliance known as the ‘Buddhist Community Alliance’.

Buddhist Community Alliance (BCA) is an alliance formed by five Buddhist organizations in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, namely Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia, Kajang Branch, Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society, Nalanda Buddhist Society, Sg. Long Buddhist Society, and Sudhamma Seremban Buddhist Society.

BCA aims to promote cooperation in Buddhist activities and programmes; pool resources in conducting these activities; as well as to unify and strengthen the Buddhist community spirit.

We trust that the formation leveraging upon the strengths of talents from various Buddhist societies will bring great benefit to the community and help to propagate the Buddha-Dhamma even more widely and effectively.

A launching ceremony to officiate the alliance will be held on 1 May 2010 at Dhamma Vijaya Meditation Centre in Dengkil. A turnout of 500 strong is expected at the launching which commences at 9am.

The event will see the signing of MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) and planting of trees by representatives from the five Buddhist societies. Dhamma quiz, treasure hunt, colouring contest and hymn singing too have been arranged to promote fellowship. The event will end with lunch dana for members of the Maha Sangha and luncheon for all attendees, courtesy of BMSM Kajang.

We invite you to join us at this memorable event. Kindly call Sis. Santi at +603.8938.1500 / 1501 to register your name. Thank you.

With metta,
Sis. Buddhini Tan
Hon. Secretary,
Nalanda Buddhist Society.
